PhD Position: Molecular Immunology: Defining trained immunity in dendritic cells and their progenitors
Join the International PhD Programme in Mainz to investigate the mechanisms of trained immunity in dendritic cells.
Best for:Best for ambitious life science graduates with a strong background in immunology and experience in single-cell analysis.
Overview
The International PhD Programme (IPP) in Mainz is seeking a motivated PhD candidate to join the research group of Johannes Mayer at the Institute of Molecular Biology. This project focuses on understanding how dendritic cells and their progenitors contribute to trained immunity, a mechanism of innate immune memory. The successful candidate will employ advanced molecular, single-cell, and omics approaches to characterize functional changes in these cells. You will work in a highly international and interdisciplinary environment with access to state-of-the-art core facilities. The role involves both in vitro and in vivo experimentation using human and murine models.
What you'll do
- Establish protocols for the isolation and differentiation of dendritic cell progenitors.
- Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments using human and murine samples.
- Perform molecular single-cell and omics analyses to define cellular and functional changes.
- Compare dendritic cell lineages with monocytes in the context of trained immunity.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary research community and attend advanced training sessions.
- Prepare research findings for publication and presentation at scientific meetings.
