PhD in Host Lipoprotein Receptors in Alphavirus Infections
Investigate the role of host lipoprotein receptors in alphavirus infections within an EU-funded MSCA doctoral network.
Best for:Best for life science graduates with a background in virology and molecular biology interested in viral pathogenesis.
Overview
This PhD position is part of the MERIT (Metabolic Reprogramming in viral pathogenesis: from Infection to Therapeutic innovations) EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions training programme, coordinated by Dr. Adithya Sridhar and Prof. Dr. Dasja Pajkrt. The successful candidate will focus on elucidating the role of host lipoprotein receptors in alphavirus infections to better understand virus-host interactions and identify potential therapeutic targets. The researcher will conduct advanced experimental work, collaborate with international consortium partners, and contribute to scientific publications. Applicants are expected to hold a relevant master's degree and demonstrate a strong background in virology, molecular biology, or related biomedical fields.
What you'll do
- Conduct independent and collaborative research on the role of host lipoprotein receptors in alphavirus infections
- Design and execute virological and molecular biology experiments to dissect viral entry and replication mechanisms
- Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data at internal meetings and international conferences
- Collaborate with research partners across the MERIT MSCA training network and participate in consortium training events
- Draft manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Contribute to the general activities and scientific goals of the research group
