GCARE Research Fellow in Air Pollution Modelling & Monitoring
Join the University of Surrey to advance research in air pollution monitoring, microclimate modelling, and urban green infrastructure.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with expertise in air pollution monitoring, environmental fluid dynamics, and big data analysis.
Overview
The Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE) at the University of Surrey invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Fellow focusing on air pollution modelling and monitoring. Working under the supervision of Professor Prashant Kumar, the successful candidate will play a key role in projects such as GP4Streets, UKRI GREENIN Network Plus, and SMARTCOAT. The appointee will engage in urban heating monitoring, computational fluid dynamics and ENVIMET modelling, and advanced statistical analysis. The role requires an independent, self-driven researcher capable of translating empirical data into high-impact journal publications.
What you'll do
- Monitor and model the effectiveness of green infrastructure in mitigating air pollution and urban overheating.
- Conduct computational modelling and simulations using tools such as ENVIMET and CFD.
- Perform advanced statistical data analysis and handle large environmental datasets using R, Python, or MATLAB.
- Contribute to active research projects including GP4Streets, UKRI GREENIN Network Plus, and SMARTCOAT.
- Assist in developing new grant applications and promote GCARE research locally and internationally.
- Draft technical reports and write manuscripts for publication in top-tier peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate closely with GCARE team members and partner institutions, occasionally undertaking short research visits.
