Ph.D. Fellowship in Organic Chemistry and Fluorescent Dyes
Join RECETOX to research structure-property relationships in xanthene and pyronin dyes using organic synthesis and AI-driven approaches.
Best for:Best for chemistry graduates with a strong organic synthesis background and an interest in fluorescent probes and data-driven molecular design.
Overview
Masaryk University's RECETOX research center in Brno, Czech Republic, offers a 4-year PhD fellowship focusing on the design and characterization of fluorescent organic molecules. The successful candidate will synthesize small molecule fluorophores, analyze their electronic and spectral properties, and apply machine learning and data-driven methods to model structure-property relationships. Working within an interdisciplinary and international team, the student will receive mentorship, advanced spectroscopic training, and a tailored study plan. The position is offered as a part-time employment arrangement (0.5 FTE) with comprehensive employee benefits and relocation support.
What you'll do
- Synthesize and characterize organic small-molecular fluorophores in the laboratory
- Investigate the spectral, electronic, and photophysical properties of synthesized dyes
- Assess structure-property relationships using classical linear free energy relationships (LFER) and machine learning approaches
- Develop and test rational design rules for advanced fluorescent probes
- Participate in collaborative interdisciplinary projects and international research activities
