Computational Methods in Engineering (CoME) Master of Science
An interdisciplinary Master's programme focused on the modelling, simulation, and analysis of complex engineering systems.
Best for:Best for engineering, mathematics, or computer science graduates seeking to specialize in advanced computational simulation and numerical modelling.
Overview
The Computational Methods in Engineering (CoME) programme at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg provides advanced training in the numerical analysis and simulation of complex technical systems. Students gain expertise at the intersection of mechanical engineering, process engineering, computer science, and mathematics. The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical foundations and practical application through interdisciplinary projects and industry-linked modules. Graduates are prepared to bridge the gap between classical engineering disciplines and modern software development.
What you'll do
- Complete 11 compulsory modules covering fundamental computational and engineering concepts.
- Participate in two interdisciplinary project modules to apply simulation methods to current challenges.
- Select four technical elective modules and one free elective to tailor the degree to specific interests.
- Engage in group work to develop and present innovative solutions for simulation-based problems.
- Conduct independent scientific research to complete a final Master's thesis.
- Present thesis findings in a formal colloquium.
