EcoBatt Joint PhD: Electrochemical Energy Storage 2.0
Develop next-generation all-solid-state batteries using stimuli-responsive polymer electrolytes in a joint French-Italian PhD project.
Best for:Best for chemistry and materials science graduates with a strong background in polymer synthesis and electrochemical energy storage.
Overview
Univ. Grenoble Alpes and Politecnico di Torino offer a co-supervised doctoral position focusing on safe, sustainable, and eco-designed all-solid-state batteries. The research merges polymer chemistry with electrochemical energy storage to create stimuli-responsive polymer electrolytes that adapt to internal strains and support circular recycling. The selected candidate will synthesize and characterize novel materials at the LEPMI lab and assemble and cycle solid-state batteries at the GAME lab. Applicants are expected to hold a master's degree and contribute to proof-of-concept demonstrations and advanced synchrotron characterization.
What you'll do
- Design, synthesize, and chemically characterize new generations of stimuli-responsive polymer electrolytes
- Assemble, characterize, and cycle all-solid-state battery prototypes
- Investigate material- and device-level proof-of-concept demonstrations for next-generation smart batteries
- Perform in-situ and operando X-ray scattering and imaging at large-scale synchrotron facilities
- Collaborate across research groups at Université Grenoble Alpes and Politecnico di Torino
- Contribute to scientific publications and intellectual property development within the EcoBatt framework
