Overview

The University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) is offering a PhD position focused on the mechanisms of circuit dysfunction in early Alzheimer's disease. The research project, titled HyperMyel-AD, explores how neuronal hyperactivity in the hippocampus influences microglia and subsequent oligodendrocyte maturation. The successful candidate will utilize 3xTg-AD mouse models to examine how these cellular interactions contribute to network instability and cognitive decline. The work aims to identify novel therapeutic targets by testing whether modulating hyperactivity-dependent myelination can mitigate disease progression.
