Overview

The Prosodic and Gestural Studies Research Group at Universitat Pompeu Fabra invites applications for a fully funded PhD position within the ERC Advanced Grant project PROSODY-SENSES. The successful candidate will focus on the multisensory realization of prosody in spoken Catalan, examining how prominence and grouping are conveyed through speech, facial expressions, and manual gestures. The research involves conducting controlled production experiments, utilizing three-dimensional motion capture, and developing quantitative models of multimodal coordination. The position is part of a collaborative team and requires the candidate to produce an article-based dissertation consisting of three to four peer-reviewed papers. Applicants will benefit from expert supervision and methodological training in multimodal communication and motion-capture analysis.
