Overview

The University of Nottingham invites applications for a PhD position within the Faculty of Engineering to investigate and model microgrid resilience. Supervised by Rasa Remenyte-Prescott and Marco Rivera, the project focuses on small-scale converter-dominated microgrids that integrate renewable generation, hybrid electrical storage, and hydrogen technologies. The research will establish resilience metrics, analyse system behaviour under various disturbances and uncertainties, and support the transition toward sustainable energy networks. The successful candidate will work closely with academic supervisors within a vibrant engineering research environment starting in October 2027.
