PhD Fellowship in Molecular Biomedicine: Weight Loss & Plasma Proteome
Investigate the molecular drivers of unwanted weight loss and cancer cachexia using clinical cohorts and pre-clinical models.
Best for:Best for life science graduates with strong wet-lab experience, molecular metabolism knowledge, and background in animal models or bioinformatics.
Overview
The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen is offering a 3-year PhD fellowship in molecular biomedicine focusing on plasma proteomes and regulators of cancer cachexia and sarcopenia. The successful candidate will work within the Translational Metabolism research theme, utilizing clinical cohorts, mouse models, and in vitro systems to identify drivers of weight loss with an emphasis on biological sex differences. Key responsibilities include conducting independent research, completing 30 ECTS of coursework, participating in research stays with partner teams, and writing a doctoral thesis. Applicants must hold a relevant master's degree and demonstrate strong wet-lab and analytical skills.
What you'll do
- Conduct an independent research project under supervision focusing on plasma proteome regulators of weight loss.
- Complete approximately 30 ECTS points worth of PhD courses or equivalent educational activities.
- Participate actively in research environments, including a planned research stay with another team.
- Gain teaching experience and disseminate research findings through academic and public channels.
- Write and defend a PhD thesis based on the research project.
