Postdoctoral Fellow in Pulmonary and Cancer Biology
Explore cellular and molecular mechanisms of lung cancer and disease development with inhaled exposures in a federally funded laboratory.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with expertise in molecular/cellular biology, DNA/RNA/protein analysis, and a keen interest in lung cancer and pulmonary disease mechanisms.
Overview
This postdoctoral position at Indiana University School of Medicine focuses on investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying lung diseases and lung cancer, particularly in relation to inhaled exposures. The successful candidate will join the Sears laboratory, which is federally funded and dedicated to understanding DNA damage and repair processes in lung cancer development and treatment response. The role involves conducting both in vitro and in vivo research, utilizing animal models, primary and immortalized cell cultures, molecular and cellular techniques, immunofluorescence, and histological analyses. The position is ideal for researchers with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, eager to contribute to translational medicine and therapeutic development.
What you'll do
- Conduct in vitro and in vivo research to investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms of lung cancer and disease development.
- Perform DNA/RNA/protein isolation and analysis, including immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy techniques.
- Develop and execute experiments using animal models, primary cell cultures, and immortalized cell lines.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative image data to assess cellular responses to inhaled exposures.
- Collaborate with laboratory members to design and implement research protocols aimed at identifying therapeutic targets.
- Document and communicate research findings through scientific writing and presentations.
