Sustainable Development of Digital Circuits and Systems
A PhD position focusing on absolute sustainability and planetary boundaries in electronics design.
Best for:Best for graduate engineers with a background in electronics or environmental life cycle assessment interested in sustainable hardware design.
Overview
This PhD research project investigates the integration of absolute sustainability and planetary boundaries into the development of digital systems and integrated circuits. Hosted by Université Grenoble Alpes and the LIST laboratory, the candidate will move beyond relative impact reductions to establish carrying capacities and sharing principles for electronics. The work involves defining socio-technical scenarios, performing life cycle assessments, and proposing novel circuit designs within environmental limits. The successful applicant is expected to contribute actively to sustainable electronics research and complete a doctoral dissertation.
