Pre-doctoral Researcher in Quantum Computing and Density-Functional Theory
Develop hybrid quantum-classical methods for condensed matter physics using SIESTA and Qiskit.
Best for:Best for physics or chemistry graduates with a master’s degree, strong programming skills, and interest in quantum computing and computational condensed matter physics.
Overview
This PhD position at CIC nanoGUNE in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain, focuses on advancing quantum computing techniques for solving correlated electron problems in materials science. The successful candidate will collaborate with IBM Quantum to integrate density-functional theory (SIESTA) with quantum solvers (Qiskit) to create embedding frameworks for high-performance computing. The project aims to bridge quantum computing and traditional supercomputing to address challenges in condensed matter physics, nanoscience, and biophysics. The position is part of a vibrant international research community and offers a collaborative, inclusive environment.
What you'll do
