Explore human mucosal immunology and colorectal cancer using single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics.
Best for:Best for life science graduates with a background in immunology, tissue processing, and bioinformatics.
Overview
The Mjösberg group at Karolinska Institutet is offering a four-year fully funded doctoral position focused on mucosal immunology in colorectal cancer. The research involves investigating innate lymphoid cells and T cells using advanced single-cell RNA sequencing, multicolor flow cytometry, and spatial transcriptomics on clinical human tissue samples. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to uncover novel disease mechanisms and biomarkers. In addition to conducting independent research, the PhD student will contribute to database management, lab duties, and student supervision.
What you'll do
- Isolate, culture, and process primary human immune cells from intestinal and tumor specimens.
- Generate and process single-cell RNA sequencing and multicolor flow cytometry data.
- Establish and perform in vitro lymphocyte differentiation assays and spatial transcriptomic analyses.
- Manage, organize, and coordinate experimental databases and clinical datasets.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and clinical staff.
- Contribute to general laboratory maintenance and assist in supervising other students and researchers.
