PhD Position in Multi-Omics and Spatial Analysis of Mucosal Melanoma
Develop novel prognostic and predictive biomarkers for mucosal melanoma using advanced multi-omics and spatial analysis techniques.
Best for:Best for biomedical researchers with a strong background in genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular biology, interested in cancer biology and translational medicine.
Overview
This PhD position at Università degli Studi di Perugia focuses on advancing the understanding of mucosal melanoma (MuM) through cutting-edge multi-omics and spatial analysis. The candidate will integrate genomic profiling, single-cell transcriptomics, and spatial analyses to refine prognostic markers and identify predictive biomarkers with clinical relevance. The project involves collaboration with EORTC melanoma centres to explore immune-suppressive pathways and mechanisms of immune tolerance. The successful applicant will conduct research at the Department of Medicine and Surgery, with secondments at Bosisio’s Lab and IB for specialized training in spatial and translational immune-oncology approaches.
What you'll do
- Conduct multi-omics and spatial analyses of mucosal melanoma (MuM) tissues to identify novel prognostic and predictive biomarkers.
- Develop computational algorithms to map melanoma phenotypes, immune cell subsets, and their spatial organization.
- Analyze genomic profiling of tumor samples and correlate findings with prognostic parameters to refine genomic features.
- Perform single-cell and transcriptomic analyses during secondments at Bosisio’s Lab and IB.
- Investigate immune-suppressive pathways and mechanisms of immune tolerance in collaboration with EORTC melanoma centers.
- Present research findings at scientific conferences and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
