Faculty Position in Neuronal Cell Biology and Cryo-ET/vEM
Join St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as a faculty member advancing neuronal cell biology through cryo-ET and vEM.
Best for:Best for early-career investigators with expertise in neuronal cell biology, cryo-ET, and advanced cellular imaging.
Overview
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Member level focusing on neuronal cell biology and the application and development of cryogenic electron tomography (cryo-ET) and volume electron microscopy (vEM). The successful candidate will join the Department of Developmental Neurobiology and the Center of Excellence for Structural Cell Biology, establishing an independent research program that bridges molecular, organellar, and cellular scales. Applicants are expected to leverage state-of-the-art imaging resources and contribute collaboratively to the interdisciplinary research community. The position offers competitive recruitment packages, including substantial startup funding, laboratory space, and personnel support.
What you'll do
- Establish and direct an independent, multidisciplinary research program focused on neuronal cell biology using advanced structural and cellular imaging.
- Develop and apply novel cryogenic electron tomography (cryo-ET), volume electron microscopy (vEM), or correlative imaging techniques.
- Investigate fundamental biological mechanisms such as synaptogenesis, polarized trafficking, and neuronal genome organization.
- Collaborate with investigators across the Center of Excellence for Structural Cell Biology and external partners to deploy emerging technologies.
- Mentor laboratory personnel and contribute intellectually to the growing cryo-ET and vEM community at St. Jude.
