Fabrication of Metasurfaces by Self-Assembly of Block Copolymers
Develop innovative block copolymer self-assembly methods for advanced nanostructuring and metasurface fabrication.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in polymer science, materials engineering, or nanotechnology seeking a research career in nanofabrication.
Overview
This PhD position at Université Bordeaux 1, in collaboration with CEA-Leti, focuses on advancing material nanostructuring through the self-assembly of block copolymers. The successful candidate will investigate mixed block copolymer systems to generate multiple patterns in a single self-assembly step and utilize chemoepitaxy for precise spatial control. The research involves designing functionalized substrates via advanced lithography, conducting self-assembly experiments, and analyzing the resulting nanostructures using state-of-the-art metrology equipment. The project ultimately targets the creation of optical metasurfaces capable of manipulating light, reducing diffraction, and controlling polarization.
What you'll do
- Investigate the underlying mechanisms and self-assembly behavior of mixed block copolymer systems
- Develop functionalized substrates for chemoepitaxy using advanced lithography techniques
- Execute block copolymer self-assembly experiments to produce multi-patterned surfaces
- Analyze fabricated nanostructures using metrology equipment available at CEA-Leti
- Optimize control over the position, dimension, and localization of nanostructures at micrometric and nanometric scales
- Evaluate optical properties of the created nanostructures regarding light interaction, diffraction reduction, and polarization control
