Overview

This research scholarship at Instituto de Telecomunicações in Lisbon focuses on advancing neuromorphic event-based data compression. The successful candidate will design and implement lossy and learning-based compression algorithms, develop models for aggregating neuromorphic event data, and integrate these solutions into high-frame-rate video reconstruction and machine vision tasks. The project is part of the Neurovision initiative, funded by FCT, and aims to evaluate performance through rate-distortion analysis and task-oriented benchmarks. The position offers a 12-month contract with the possibility of renewal, starting in November 2026, and is based at Instituto Superior Técnico. The work involves close collaboration with the Multimedia Signal Processing group and participation in international standardization activities.
