Overview

The Nanomaterials Spectroscopy and Imaging Group at Empa is seeking a PhD student to study the vibrational and optoelectronic properties of quasi-1D (Ba,Sr)(Ti,Nb,Ta)(S,Se)3 chalcogenides. This project focuses on understanding how material composition, defects, and chain alignment influence collective electronic phenomena like charge-density-wave order. The successful candidate will utilize advanced optical and time-resolved spectroscopic techniques to analyze single crystals and thin films. This position is part of a collaborative project with FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) and the German Research Foundation (DPG).
