Research Scientist - T Cell Immunology
Join a Wellcome-funded research group at Oxford to investigate T cell immunity in cancer immunotherapy.
Best for:Best for immunologists with expertise in human T cells, high-dimensional flow cytometry, and single-cell genomic approaches.
Overview
The University of Oxford is seeking a Research Scientist in T cell immunology to join Professor Benjamin Fairfax’s research group within the Department of Oncology at the MRC Weatherall Institute for Molecular Medicine. This Wellcome-funded position focuses on understanding how host immunity and T cell receptor characteristics shape clinical responses to cancer immunotherapy and immune-related toxicity. The role involves designing and executing experimental research, utilizing advanced techniques such as spectral flow cytometry and single-cell RNA sequencing to analyze patient samples. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, coordinate experiments, and provide guidance to junior researchers.
What you'll do
- Design and execute experimental research investigating T cell subsets and receptors associated with clinical response or toxicity in cancer immunotherapy.
- Perform immunophenotyping of patient samples using high-dimensional spectral flow cytometry and single-cell RNA sequencing.
- Conduct functional assays to characterize heterologously expressed T cell receptors and apply molecular biology techniques such as ATAC-seq.
- Contribute to the development of spatial analysis approaches for immunological data.
- Analyze and interpret scientific data, troubleshoot technical challenges, and adapt experimental approaches accordingly.
- Collaborate effectively with DPhil students, Research Assistants, and Postdoctoral Researchers while providing informal guidance to junior staff.
- Contribute to scientific publications, research reports, and presentations.
