PhD Scholarship in Assessment of Health Impact of Microbial Foods
Join an interdisciplinary research program investigating host-microbe metabolism and health impacts of novel microbial foods.
Best for:Best for graduate researchers with a background in animal nutrition, host-microbe metabolism, or microbiome science seeking an interdisciplinary PhD.
Overview
The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for a fully funded PhD scholarship focusing on the health impact of microbial foods in vivo as part of the BRIGHT research programme. The candidate will design and conduct murine studies to evaluate how fermentation, biomass composition, and processing affect host nutritional and metabolic outcomes. Working within an interdisciplinary team of microbiome and food scientists, the successful applicant will generate evidence to support future human clinical trials and predictive health models. Candidates are expected to engage in rigorous experimental research, collaborate with national and international partners, and contribute to sustainable food-system innovations.
What you'll do
- Design and execute pre-clinical murine studies to assess the nutritional and metabolic effects of microbial foods.
- Isolate the contributions of fermentation, biomass composition, and processing to host health outcomes.
- Generate empirical data to feed directly into predictive health models and human clinical trial designs.
- Collaborate closely with computational biologists, microbial engineers, and food scientists across DTU and partner institutions.
- Analyze complex multi-omics and physiological datasets in coordination with interdisciplinary research teams.
