PhD in PFAS Removal with Activated Carbon in Drinking Water Treatment
Join a pioneering research project addressing PFAS contamination in drinking water.
Best for:Best for researchers passionate about environmental science and water treatment technologies.
Overview
This PhD position focuses on investigating the removal of PFAS contaminants from drinking water using activated carbon. The candidate will conduct laboratory experiments and data analysis to understand the factors influencing PFAS breakthrough in realistic water conditions. Collaborating closely with Evides, a leading drinking water company, the research aims to enhance operational strategies for activated carbon filtration. The insights gained will help utilities better manage PFAS challenges in practice.
What you'll do
- Investigate the mechanisms of competitive adsorption of PFAS and natural organic matter on granular activated carbon.
- Design and perform batch and column experiments at relevant PFAS concentrations.
- Analyze experimental data and develop predictive models for activated carbon filter performance.
- Identify key water quality parameters that indicate PFAS breakthrough.
- Publish research findings in international journals and present at conferences.
