Research Fellow in Diffuse Midline Glioma Biology and Therapy
Investigate pediatric brain tumor biology and therapeutic response using advanced orthotopic mouse models.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with a background in cancer biology or neuroscience and hands-on experience in murine tumor models.
Overview
This postdoctoral research fellow position at the University of Michigan Medical School focuses on exploring the role of the tumor microenvironment and neurodevelopment in diffuse midline glioma (DMG). Under the supervision of Dr. Koschmann, the fellow will develop and utilize sophisticated genetically engineered and orthotopic murine models to simulate human DMG. The role involves designing and executing in vivo therapeutic studies, assessing novel epigenetic and targeted treatments, and conducting cellular assays to evaluate tumor dynamics. The successful candidate will drive translational research bridging developmental biology, tumor modeling, and preclinical testing.
What you'll do
- Lead the development and application of advanced genetically engineered and orthotopic murine models, including intra-uterine electroporation systems and brainstem tumor implantation approaches.
- Design, execute, and analyze in vivo treatment studies evaluating novel targeted and epigenetic therapies using survival, imaging, molecular, and cellular endpoints.
- Perform complementary functional studies including immunocytochemistry, stimulation and perturbation experiments, viability and proliferation assays, and imaging-based analyses.
- Investigate tumor cell states, lineage programs, and tumor-microenvironment interactions through plate-based functional approaches.
- Drive translational research initiatives connecting developmental biology, tumor modeling, and therapeutic testing.
