Overview

The Engineering Geology Group at ETH Zurich invites applications for a fully funded, four-year doctoral position focusing on debris flow mechanisms, field monitoring, and natural hazard risk management. Working within an SNSF-funded project, the successful candidate will analyze high-resolution point cloud and camera data to derive precise velocity and flow depth estimates. Responsibilities include conducting fieldwork at five study sites, performing hypothesis-driven analyses of in-situ measurements, and developing novel frameworks for debris flow assessment. Applicants should hold a relevant Master's degree and demonstrate strong academic curiosity, independence, and excellent English communication skills.
