PhD Position in Operando Neuromorphic Optoelectronics
Develop in-situ optical sensing for polymer-based electronics to advance energy-efficient neuromorphic computing at the University of Twente.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in Physical Chemistry or Physics, hands-on experience in optics and spectroscopies, and a passion for interdisciplinary research at the intersection of materials science and neuromorphic computing.
Overview
This PhD position at the University of Twente focuses on pioneering in-situ optical sensing techniques for polymer-based electronics. The successful candidate will design conductive polymers, fabricate optoelectronic devices, and construct advanced spectroscopy platforms (UV-Vis, Raman, and surface-enhanced Raman) to study hidden processes like charge transfer, redox dynamics, and morphology changes. The research aims to model electrical and optical inputs for energy-efficient neuromorphic computing, contributing to sustainable optoelectronic devices. The project is interdisciplinary, integrating expertise from the Hybrid Materials for Optoelectronics group and the Sustainable Polymer Chemistry group within the Department of Molecules and Materials. Collaborations with the MESA+ Institute and the Centre for Brain-Inspired Computing will further enhance the research environment.
