Overview

The Nordic Master in Aquatic Food Production – Safety and Quality (AQFood) is a two-year double-degree programme focusing on the entire aquatic food supply chain, from primary production (including aquaculture and wild catch) to processing, distribution, and consumer safety. Offered by a consortium of three leading Nordic universities—Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), University of Iceland (UoI), and Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU)—this programme combines mobility and interdisciplinary learning. Students begin their studies at one university and specialise in a track (Aquatic Production, Natural Resources, or Marine Innovation and Sustainability) before transferring to another consortium partner for their second year. The curriculum emphasises quality assurance, food safety, and sustainable practices, preparing graduates for careers in research, industry, or policy within the global aquatic food sector.
