PhD Student in Cellular Biology
Explore protein-lipid droplet interactions and their role in neurodegenerative diseases using yeast, Drosophila, and reconstituted systems.
Best for:Best for biology graduates with a strong foundation in cell biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology, interested in neurodegenerative diseases and lipid metabolism.
Overview
This PhD position at the Centre de Recherche en Biologie cellulaire de Montpellier (CRBM) focuses on investigating how proteins interact with lipid droplets—cellular organelles involved in neutral lipid storage—and how these interactions influence lipid composition. The research aims to uncover the impact of altered protein-lipid droplet dynamics on protein aggregation linked to neurodegenerative diseases. The project will employ diverse model systems, including purified reconstituted systems, budding yeast, and Drosophila, to address these questions. The successful candidate will join a collaborative environment with access to advanced imaging and technological platforms at BioCampus Montpellier.
