Overview

The Humam Kadara Laboratory in the Department of Translational Molecular Pathology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center invites applications for a postdoctoral position to study the cellular and ecological drivers of early lung cancer development. The selected candidate will spearhead mechanistic projects examining injury-induced epithelial plasticity, oncogenic signaling, and immune microenvironments utilizing advanced in vivo models, organoids, and single-cell technologies. Responsibilities include designing complex animal and cellular assays, generating high-dimensional molecular data, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to translate findings to human disease. Applicants must hold a relevant doctoral degree and demonstrate a strong background in molecular biology, cancer research, or immunology.

What you'll do

  • Design and execute experiments using genetically engineered, lineage-tracing, and carcinogen-associated mouse models of lung cancer.
  • Establish and manipulate primary-cell cultures, organoid systems, and other ex vivo model frameworks.
  • Perform cellular and molecular assays including flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and tissue processing.
  • Conduct preclinical therapeutic intervention studies focusing on inflammatory, oncogenic, and immune pathways.
  • Analyze and interpret multimodal high-dimensional datasets such as single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics.
  • Collaborate closely with computational scientists, pathologists, and clinical investigators to integrate experimental results with human tissue data.
  • Lead manuscript preparation, contribute to grant applications, and present findings at scientific meetings.
