Research Fellow in Epithelial Immunoregulation and Autoimmune Skin Disease
Join a dynamic dermatology research team to uncover molecular mechanisms of keratinocyte-mediated immune responses in autoimmune and inflammatory skin diseases.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with a PhD in biology, immunology, or molecular biology, seeking to advance autoimmune skin disease research with expertise in molecular biology, mouse models, or multiomic analyses.
Overview
This position at the University of Michigan’s Dermatology Department offers a Research Fellow opportunity to investigate how keratinocytes regulate immune responses in autoimmune and inflammatory skin diseases like cutaneous lupus. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research combining molecular biology, mouse models, and multiomic analyses to identify epithelial gene regulatory networks. The role involves designing experiments, supervising junior lab members, analyzing complex datasets, and contributing to manuscript and grant preparation. The position emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and the potential for independent research projects, making it ideal for postdoctoral researchers with a strong background in immunology, molecular biology, or related fields.
What you'll do
- Conduct molecular and cellular biology experiments, including mammalian cell culture, gene and protein expression analyses, and gene perturbation approaches.
- Perform in vivo studies using mouse models of autoimmune skin disease, including tissue collection and phenotypic analyses.
- Develop and implement new experimental approaches to study epithelial gene regulatory networks.
- Analyze and interpret complex datasets using statistical methods and multiomic techniques.
- Supervise and train junior lab members (undergraduates, graduate students, and research staff) in laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
- Prepare research presentations, conduct literature reviews, and draft research manuscripts and grant applications.
- Collaborate with investigators across the University of Michigan and utilize core facilities for advanced research.
- Document research activities and contribute to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for inflammatory skin diseases.
