PhD Positions in Intrinsically Disordered Protein Regions (FlexCAT)
Join the MSCA Doctoral Network FlexCAT to pioneer novel methods for studying and targeting disordered protein regions in cancer research.
Best for:Best for master’s graduates in biophysics, biochemistry, or related life sciences with strong research skills and a passion for interdisciplinary protein science.
Overview
The FlexCAT Doctoral Network, funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) under Horizon Europe, offers 15 PhD positions across Europe. This interdisciplinary programme focuses on developing innovative strategies to investigate intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) in proteins, which play critical roles in cell signalling and diseases like cancer. Applicants will conduct cutting-edge research, participate in international training programmes, and engage in secondments with academic and industry partners. The network provides structured doctoral training, career development support, and opportunities for scientific dissemination and innovation.
What you'll do
- Conduct original research on intrinsically disordered protein regions (IDRs) and their roles in cell signalling and disease, particularly cancer.
- Develop novel methods for studying and targeting IDRs using cutting-edge biophysical and biochemical techniques.
- Participate in international doctoral training programmes (~3 weeks over 3 years) at various European locations.
- Complete at least one secondment at an international academic or industry partner institution.
- Present research findings at international conferences and engage in scientific dissemination, communication, and outreach activities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary supervisory teams and contribute to the development of an individual career development plan.
- Engage in transferable skills courses and networking opportunities to enhance professional growth.
