PostDoc Grant: Decode Obesity Drivers in Dogs and Cats
Propose an innovative cross-species postdoctoral project on obesity biology at Boehringer Ingelheim.
Best for:Best for computational biologists and life science researchers with expertise in multi-omics integration and metabolic disease biology.
Overview
Boehringer Ingelheim invites high-caliber postdoctoral scientists to submit a competitive research proposal addressing cross-species obesity biology in dogs and cats through its opn2TALENTS grant program. The selected fellow will spend up to three years at the Discovery Research site in Biberach/Riss, Germany, integrating multi-omics and systems biology approaches to identify conserved disease drivers and biomarkers. Candidates are expected to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary animal health and human pharma environment, receiving expert mentorship and full resource backing. The fellowship aims to foster translational discovery while offering vibrant career development opportunities in a state-of-the-art industrial research setting.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute a 3-year cross-species research project investigating molecular obesity drivers in dogs and cats
- Integrate multi-omics datasets across relevant metabolic tissues including adipose tissue, liver, pancreas, and skeletal muscle
- Distinguish conserved obesity-driving mechanisms from species-specific modifiers to support target and biomarker discovery
- Collaborate within international and cross-functional teams connecting animal health research with human pharma expertise
- Publish research findings in high-ranking scientific journals and participate in international scientific conferences
