Doctoral student in quantum information theory
Explore fundamental limits and explicit protocols in quantum information science at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in electrical engineering, mathematics, or physics with a strong background in linear algebra, probability, and quantum information.
Overview
KTH Royal Institute of Technology invites applications for a doctoral student position in quantum information theory within the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Funded by the Swedish Research Council and WACQT, the project investigates foundational questions in quantum information science, including channel capacities, entanglement measures, and quantum Shannon theory. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Mikael Skoglund to determine ultimate performance limits and develop tractable computational protocols. Applicants are expected to possess a strong mathematical background and the capability to conduct independent and collaborative research.
What you'll do
- Investigate fundamental information-theoretic quantities such as entropy, mutual information, and channel capacities.
- Analyze the behavior of quantum systems and information-processing resources when combined.
- Determine ultimate limits on resource requirements and performance in quantum tasks.
- Develop explicit protocols that achieve or approach theoretical performance limits.
- Formulate mathematically tractable and computationally accessible expressions for information limits.
- Collaborate with research team members and engage in academic discussions.
