What you'll do
- Provide academic direction, strategic planning, and organizational management for the department
- Collaborate with university leadership to align departmental objectives with institutional goals and rolling three-year plans
- Oversee curriculum development, teaching quality, and student learning experiences to maximize career opportunities
- Manage departmental staff including workload allocation, recruitment, professional development reviews, and performance evaluations
- Oversee budget development, financial expenditures, and resource allocation within the department
- Maintain an active research profile, secure external funding, and produce high-quality scholarly outputs
- Deliver high-quality teaching and student supervision alongside administrative responsibilities
- Build internal and external engagement activities, fostering connections with industry partners and the broader community
Requirements
Degree required: PhD in mathematics or a related field
Language: English
Instruction: English
Publications: Strong publication record commensurate with senior academic leadership
- Strong academic background in financial mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or probability
- At least three years of experience in research and teaching with a proven track record of academic excellence
- Demonstrated experience managing and leading a team of academic staff
- Experience working with industry partners and stakeholders to promote innovation and engagement
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and strategic thinking skills
- Candidates over 65 may not be eligible for a work visa in P.R. China
