PhD Position in Developmental Neurobiology - C. elegans Evolution
Join a dynamic research team at IBV-CSIC in Spain to investigate nervous system evolution and developmental neurobiology.
Best for:Best for motivated life science graduates with an interest in molecular genetics, developmental biology, and neurobiology.
Overview
The Developmental Neurobiology Laboratory at the Instituto de Biomedicina de Valencia (IBV-CSIC) in Spain invites applications for a PhD position. Under the supervision of Nuria Flames, the successful candidate will undertake predoctoral training focusing on the transcriptional and post-transcriptional mechanisms governing neuronal specification, plasticity, and evolution. The project utilizes a multidisciplinary framework combining cellular biology, genomics, molecular genetics, and bioinformatics within C. elegans and murine animal models. This position offers a stimulating academic environment supported by Spanish governmental funding and an ERC Consolidator Grant.
What you'll do
- Conduct independent experimental research in developmental neurobiology using C. elegans and murine model systems.
- Apply multidisciplinary techniques spanning cellular biology, genomics, and molecular genetics.
- Perform bioinformatic analyses to interpret transcriptomic and genomic datasets.
- Investigate transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms of neuron types.
- Collaborate with lab members and contribute to general laboratory maintenance and scientific discussions.
- Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presentation at conferences.
