Master of Science in Water Science and Engineering
Interdisciplinary research-oriented master’s programme at the interface of water-related engineering and natural sciences.
Best for:Best for engineering and science graduates seeking a research-oriented master’s degree with a focus on water sustainability, climate resilience, and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
Overview
The Master of Science in Water Science and Engineering at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) offers a research-focused, interdisciplinary curriculum addressing critical challenges in water resource management, climate change impacts, and hydro-meteorological extremes. Students deepen their expertise in water technology, fluid mechanics, earth system science, and sustainable water management through specialized profiles like urban water systems, hydraulic engineering, hydrological dynamics, and river floodplain management. The programme blends advanced technical and scientific training with interdisciplinary research projects, language courses, and international collaboration opportunities, including a double-degree option with the University of Strasbourg. Graduates emerge with specialized knowledge and practical skills to tackle global water sustainability challenges.
