PhD Scholarships in Engineering of Quantum Light Sources and System Architecture for Photonic Quantum Computing
Join an international MSCA Doctoral Network to advance photonic quantum computing through quantum-dot-based light sources and system architecture.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in photonics, quantum optics, or nanofabrication seeking to work on hardware-level quantum computing.
Overview
DTU Electro is inviting applications for three PhD positions within the EU-funded Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network 'PHOTONIQC'. The project focuses on the design, simulation, and nanofabrication of highly efficient solid-state single-photon sources and the development of system architectures for distributed photonic quantum computing. Successful candidates will work in an international team, collaborating across seven countries with significant secondment opportunities at partner institutions. Applicants will contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at increasing photon indistinguishability and efficiency for quantum information technology. The roles involve a mix of numerical simulation, cleanroom fabrication, and experimental characterization.
What you'll do
- Employ advanced optical simulation tools to analyze and design single-photon sources.
- Perform nanofabrication of quantum devices using lithography, etching, and metal deposition in cleanroom facilities.
- Conduct experimental optical characterization of devices to measure purity, efficiency, and photon indistinguishability.
- Develop system architecture blueprints for photonic graph state computation.
- Supervise BSc and MSc students in their research projects.
- Document research findings through scientific publications and conference presentations.
- Participate in network-wide training schools, workshops, and secondments at partner institutions.
