Overview
The University of Wollongong in Dubai is seeking an academic to fill a balanced teaching and research appointment as a Senior Lecturer in Business Analytics within the School of Business. The successful candidate will drive curriculum development and instruction in critical growth areas such as Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and data-driven decision-making across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Alongside delivering engaging instruction using industry-standard platforms, the appointee will maintain an active scholarly research profile, foster industry engagement, and mentor students. This position offers an international academic environment within a modern campus located in Dubai Knowledge Park.
What you'll do
- Deliver high-quality instruction across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in business analytics, big data management, and artificial intelligence.
- Utilize contemporary analytics platforms and tools such as Python, R, Microsoft Power BI, and SAS Viya in classroom teaching.
- Teach the application of Generative AI in business contexts and guide students in designing responsible AI-based business solutions.
- Supervise student dissertations and support research activities appropriate to academic seniority.
- Maintain an active, peer-reviewed research agenda with outputs indexed in Scopus and/or ranked ABDC B or above.
- Pursue external research funding and engage in interdisciplinary and practice-based research initiatives.
- Establish and nurture connections between classroom learning and contemporary industry practice.
Requirements
Degree required: PhD in Business Analytics, Data Science, Big Data, Information Systems, Operations Research or a closely related discipline
Language: English proficiency for teaching and academic collaboration
Instruction: English
Publications: At least three peer-reviewed journal articles indexed in Scopus and/or ranked ABDC B or above, plus an active research pipeline.
- Demonstrated practical competence with Python and R
- Practical experience with analytics platforms like Microsoft Power BI and SAS Viya
- Higher education teaching experience in business analytics or related fields
- Track record of peer-reviewed research outputs appropriate to academic seniority
