Postdoctoral Associate in Neurosurgery
Conduct advanced neural recordings, electrophysiology, and computational modeling of brain disorders at Rutgers.
Best for:Best for neuroscientists or biomedical engineers with a strong background in in vivo electrophysiology, intracranial EEG analysis, and Python or MATLAB programming.
Overview
Rutgers University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the researcher will investigate disease mechanisms of brain disorders using murine models and iPSC-derived human neurons. Responsibilities include conducting small animal surgeries, performing molecular and electrophysiological experiments, processing neural data, and contributing to grant and manuscript preparation. Candidates are expected to operate independently, guide junior lab personnel, and support the overall scientific operations of the laboratory.
What you'll do
- Perform in vivo animal experiments using mice, including small craniotomies for chemical and viral vector injections and electrode implantations.
- Design, execute, and analyze research studies using intracranial EEG and neural recording data from animal models.
- Perform advanced signal processing, time-frequency analyses, and computational pipeline development using MATLAB, Python, or similar platforms.
- Conduct molecular, cellular, and electrophysiological experiments on murine models and iPSC-derived human neurons.
- Lead manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Contribute to grant writing and research proposals for funding agencies such as the NIH and private foundations.
- Provide research guidance and mentorship to residents, junior research assistants, graduate students, and student workers.
