Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Therapy Resistance and Molecular Evolution of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia
Explore molecular mechanisms of AML relapse and therapy resistance using cutting-edge molecular techniques in a well-resourced laboratory.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with a PhD in molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related field, and experience in wet-lab techniques, including molecular and cellular approaches.
Overview
This postdoctoral position at the University of Michigan focuses on investigating the molecular evolution and therapy resistance in human acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) at relapse. The successful candidate will conduct in-depth mechanistic studies on candidate genes identified by the lab, employing advanced wet-lab molecular, cellular, and in vivo AML xenotransplant approaches. The project leverages extensive preliminary data and access to hundreds of human AML specimens, providing a robust foundation for impactful research. The role is ideal for researchers with a strong background in molecular biology and a passion for advancing cancer biology and potential therapeutic strategies.
What you'll do
- Conduct research into the molecular mechanisms underlying therapy resistance and relapse in acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).
- Study nominated candidate genes using advanced wet-lab molecular and cellular techniques.
- Perform in-depth mechanistic investigations on selected genes using in vivo AML xenotransplant models.
- Analyze and interpret substantial new datasets generated by the lab to identify novel candidate genes.
- Collaborate with the research team to advance understanding of competitive regrowth of leukemia cells post-therapy.
Requirements
Degree required: Terminal doctoral degree (PhD) or a professional doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.D.S., D.V.M.) in molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related field.
