Overview

The Institute for Plant Sciences of Montpellier (IPSiM) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to the Franco-Austrian LeafNit project, focusing on systemic nitrogen signaling in plants. The successful candidate will examine how nitrate-induced cytokinins are integrated in mature leaves and how this regulates long-distance root activity using Arabidopsis thaliana models. Responsibilities involve conducting dynamic transcriptomic experiments, processing RNA-seq data, and validating key genetic regulators. The role requires close collaboration with partner laboratories, independent experimental design, and effective communication of research outcomes.

What you'll do

  • Conduct dynamic transcriptomic experiments on mature Arabidopsis thaliana leaves exposed to homogeneous or heterogeneous nitrate availability.
  • Compare wild-type plants with various mutants affected in cytokinin signaling.
  • Contribute to RNA-seq data analysis and gene regulatory network reconstruction.
  • Select and experimentally validate key regulators using RT-qPCR, reverse genetics, and molecular physiology approaches.
  • Characterize systemic root responses using split-root systems, root developmental analyses, and nitrate transport measurements.
  • Integrate transcriptomic results with metabolomic and hormonal datasets generated within the project.
