PhD Position in Ultra-Low Frequency Wireless Power Transmission
Develop novel ultra-low frequency wireless power transfer systems for autonomous sensor node charging.
Best for:Best for physics and mechatronics graduates with a strong aptitude for experimental design and numerical modeling.
Overview
This PhD position at Universite Grenoble Alpes, within the Systems Department of CEA-Leti, focuses on advancing ultra-low-frequency wireless power transfer (WPT) technologies. The research aims to extend transmission ranges and enable energy transfer through complex conductive media such as metallic barriers or seawater. The successful candidate will design, model, optimize, and experimentally validate novel electromechanical receiver topologies and associated power conversion electronics. The project requires a multidisciplinary approach combining solid theoretical foundations in physics and mechatronics with rigorous experimental work in a collaborative team environment.
What you'll do
- Propose and develop novel ultra-low-frequency concepts to increase wireless power transfer range and power density
- Build analytical and numerical models to identify key system parameters and evaluate performance against state-of-the-art systems
- Design, optimize, and experimentally validate new emitter field shaping and receiver geometry topologies
- Design and experimentally evaluate innovative power conversion electronics on the transmitter and receiver sides
- Conduct joint optimization of the electromechanical system and associated power electronics
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team of researchers focusing on autonomous systems and energy harvesting
