Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher in Chromosome Segregation
Join RIKEN to investigate chromosome segregation mechanisms and aneuploidy in mammalian oocytes and early embryos.
Best for:Best for life science researchers with a PhD and a strong background in cell biology, molecular biology, or live-cell imaging.
Overview
RIKEN's Center for Life Science Technologies, specifically the Laboratory for Chromosome Segregation located in Kobe, Japan, is seeking a Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher. The successful candidate will conduct fundamental research on chromosome segregation mechanisms, oocyte aging, and error prevention using mammalian models such as mice. This role involves executing experiments and data analysis as part of the JST-CREST project focusing on generating aneuploidy-free embryos through artificial components. Applicants are expected to engage collaboratively within the lab and apply innovative cell biological or molecular approaches.
What you'll do
- Perform fundamental research to elucidate, manipulate, and prevent chromosome segregation errors in oocytes, eggs, fertilized eggs, and early embryos
- Execute experimental procedures and data analysis for the JST-CREST research project on creating aneuploidy-free embryos
- Utilize advanced cell biological techniques such as live-cell imaging and cell engineering methods including micromanipulation
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external research team members to drive project objectives
- Develop original, challenging, and high-impact research directions combining personal expertise with laboratory strengths
Requirements
Degree required: PhD in a field related to the job description
Language: English or Japanese proficiency enabling smooth communication with research collaborators
Instruction: English / Japanese
- Expertise in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated ability to perform independent research and experimental execution
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborative teamwork
- Drive to develop independent, original, and innovative research projects
