PhD Student Position: Molecular Mechanisms of Root Stem Cell Regeneration Under Climate Instability
Investigate how climate-induced temperature fluctuations impact root stem cell regeneration using advanced imaging and transcriptomics.
Best for:Best for candidates with a background in plant molecular biology, genetics, or bioinformatics interested in climate-resilient plant development.
Overview
The Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP) in Madrid is seeking a motivated PhD student to join a research group focused on root organogenesis and regeneration. This project explores the molecular feedback loops linking stem cell regulators, telomere dynamics, and auxin signaling under temperature conditions that mimic climate change. The successful candidate will utilize cutting-edge techniques, including single-cell RNA sequencing, AI-powered 3D confocal imaging, and spatial transcriptomics. The position offers an opportunity to develop scientific independence while investigating how unpredictable environmental cues reshape cell fate. Applicants should be prepared to take ownership of their research project within a collaborative and innovative laboratory environment.
What you'll do
- Conduct independent research on molecular feedback loops in root stem cell regeneration.
- Perform single-cell RNA sequencing to analyze cell fate transitions and trajectories.
- Execute AI-powered 3D confocal imaging to monitor telomere length dynamics.
- Apply spatial transcriptomics to map gene expression at single-cell resolution.
- Analyze complex transcriptomic datasets using computational tools.
- Collaborate with team members to integrate environmental stress data into biological models.
