Overview

This PhD studentship at the University of Oxford offers a fully funded opportunity to investigate dynamic covalent and noncovalent interactions in strained molecules, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and aromatic cations. Under the supervision of Professor Paul McGonigal in the Department of Chemistry, the successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research on state-independent ionic conductivity, shapeshifting molecules, dynamic stereochemistry, and strained aromatic cations. The project combines synthetic chemistry with physical organic chemistry, aiming to develop novel organic materials with applications in advanced technologies. The studentship covers tuition fees at the Home rate and provides a stipend for up to 3.5 years, aligning with the standard UK Research Council rate.
