Postdoctoral Researcher in Cellular Senescence and Aging Biology
Explore mechanisms of cellular resilience in aging and age-related diseases under Dr. Sharma’s supervision at Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with a PhD in biological sciences, immunology, cell biology, or geroscience, and hands-on experience in senescence biology, flow cytometry, and RNA-seq data analysis.
Overview
This postdoctoral position at Ohio University’s Department of Biomedical Sciences focuses on investigating how senescent cells adapt and contribute to immune surveillance decline during aging and age-related diseases. The successful candidate will conduct advanced wet-lab research, including primary cell culture, molecular biology assays, flow cytometry, and transcriptomic data analysis, while collaborating with Dr. Sharma’s team. The role emphasizes independent research, manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The position is ideal for researchers with expertise in senescence biology, geroscience, or cellular aging mechanisms, offering a dynamic environment to advance translational research in aging and disease.
What you'll do
- Design and execute original wet-lab research projects focused on cellular senescence, immune surveillance mechanisms, and age-related disease models, including primary cell culture and advanced molecular biology techniques.
- Conduct in vivo studies on aged murine models, including treatment administration, behavioral testing, tissue harvesting, histology, and micro-dissection.
- Analyze and interpret transcriptomic (RNA-seq) data, and perform rigorous statistical analyses to support scientific publications and research deliverables.
- Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication and assist with literature reviews and grant applications under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.
- Present research findings at national and international conferences and departmental meetings.
- Collaborate with research staff and faculty, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in experimental techniques and laboratory protocols.
- Maintain meticulous records of experimental procedures and data, ensuring reproducibility and compliance with scientific standards.
