Scientist in Protein Technologies Center - Cell Engineering / Molecular Biology
Join St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as a Scientist to drive innovative cell engineering and molecular biology for structural biology projects.
Best for:Best for molecular biologists and cell engineers with strong CRISPR, cloning, and mammalian cell culture expertise seeking a translational research environment.
Overview
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking a dedicated Scientist to join the Protein Technologies Center within the Department of Structural Biology. The successful candidate will play a pivotal, hands-on role in engineering cell lines, developing stable expression platforms, and performing genome-editing technologies to advance structural, functional, and drug-discovery studies. Operating in a collaborative and state-of-the-art research environment, the appointee will use advanced cloning, mutagenesis, and CRISPR techniques to support multidisciplinary team investigations. This bench-based position requires meticulous management of cell line generation, genomic stability verification, and molecular cloning workflows.
What you'll do
- Engineer mammalian cell lines using CRISPR gene editing technology to generate knockouts, knock-ins, and gene tags, while confirming successful edits.
- Generate stable cell lines utilizing both viral and non-viral delivery systems.
- Implement advanced technologies to develop stable target-overexpressed cell lines, pools, clones, and prepare NGS libraries.
- Execute complex molecular cloning workflows including In-Fusion, LIC, Gibson assembly, and recombination methods.
- Perform site-directed and saturation mutagenesis on large or combinatorial DNA constructs.
- Verify genomic stability throughout the clonal line-generation process to support structural cell biology initiatives.
