Research Associate
A 3-month research opportunity focused on the development and application of the MAIHDA method for intersectional quantitative analysis.
Best for:Best for PhD researchers or recent graduates with strong quantitative skills and experience in multilevel modeling.
Overview
The University of Sheffield is seeking a researcher to contribute to an ESRC-funded project focused on refining the Intersectional Multilevel Analysis of Individual Heterogeneity and Discriminatory Accuracy (MAIHDA) approach. This 3-month position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a global network of leading experts in quantitative social science. The successful candidate will work on a defined project, which may involve methodological extensions, simulation studies, or the creation of training resources. Applicants should have a clear, feasible project proposal that aligns with the project's goals and can be completed within the short-term timeframe.
What you'll do
- Develop extensions to the MAIHDA method, such as integrating spatial analysis techniques.
- Conduct simulation studies to evaluate the performance of MAIHDA in specific research contexts.
- Create high-quality training resources, including R Shiny applications or instructional videos.
- Execute a substantive research project applying MAIHDA to an under-researched subject area.
- Collaborate with project investigators across multiple institutions to advance intersectional quantitative research.
- Participate in regular team meetings to report progress and refine project outputs.
