Overview

The University of Amsterdam invites applications for a fully funded four-year PhD position within the Complex Cyber Infrastructure research group. The project focuses on the emerging field of Accountable and Responsible AI, examining how to make generative AI systems transparent, legally compliant, and robust for professional contexts and creative industries. The successful candidate will investigate opacity in AI inferencing, compliance-by-design under frameworks like the EU AI Act, and structured knowledge integration for non-expert users. The role involves close collaboration with academic supervisors, industrial partners, and other researchers, leading to a PhD dissertation. Responsibilities also include contributing to undergraduate and master's level teaching alongside core research activities.
