PhD Candidate in 3D Printed Microwave Resonators for Biomedical Applications
Explore cutting-edge RF/microwave engineering and 3D printing for biomedical sensor development at the University of Barcelona.
Best for:Best for engineers with expertise in RF/microwave engineering, 3D printing, or biomedical sensors seeking interdisciplinary research at the intersection of electronics and biomedicine.
Overview
This PhD position at the University of Barcelona focuses on developing innovative electromagnetic sensor architectures by integrating planar RF/microwave technologies with 3D-printed structures. The project, led by the Radiofrequency Group (GRAF), aims to create new tools for biomedical applications, including single-cell characterization and bioanalytical measurements. Candidates with backgrounds in telecommunication, electronic, or biomedical engineering—and experience in RF/microwave engineering, circuit design, or electromagnetics—are encouraged to apply. The opportunity is part of the FPI/FPU predoctoral fellowship programme, funded by the European Union.
What you'll do
- Design and develop novel electromagnetic sensor architectures combining planar RF/microwave technologies with 3D-printed structures.
- Conduct experimental research on 3D-printed microwave resonators and their biomedical applications.
- Characterize contrast particles and biological systems using advanced sensor technologies.
- Perform single-cell characterization and bioanalytical measurements with developed sensors.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate RF/microwave engineering with biomedical applications.
- Publish research findings in high-impact academic journals and present results at international conferences.
