The successful candidate will focus on characterizing atmospheric aerosols collected at the University's Aerosols Observatory and comparing them with data from the Sonnblick Observatory as part of the Vienna Network for Atmospheric Research (VINAR). Responsibilities include operating advanced aerosol instrumentation, conducting laboratory and field measurements, and analyzing data to complete a doctoral dissertation. Candidates are expected to hold a Master's degree in physics, meteorology, or a related discipline and possess strong programming and experimental skills.
What you'll do
- Set up, maintain, and operate ACTRIS instrumentation including Aethalometers, Nephelometers, and Aerodynamic Particle Sizers.
- Characterize aerosol instruments in the laboratory and perform in-situ measurements at the Aerosol Observatory and Sonnblick Observatory.
- Process, analyze, and interpret aerosol microphysical and optical data using programming languages such as Python.
- Collaborate with VINAR partners, GeoSphere Austria, and the Department of Meteorology and Geophysics.
